In a remarkable achievement, Premier High School’s Arts Club has been nominated twice in the prestigious Pumula Royal Arts Community Awards, a testament to the school’s growing artistic prowess. The school’s Arts Club has been recognized for its innovative visual poetry project, “The Unsung Song.” This expressive project combines poetry and storytelling to shed light on the challenges faced by young people today. The unsung song is nominated under outstanding literary work and Best educational/informative creator catergories.
This impressive feat marks the club’s first entry into the awards, showcasing the talent and dedication of its members that include Nothabo Ncube, Nicoleen Nleya, Romeo Sikhosana and Shannique Muteyo. The club is led by Mr.A.Sibindi who is making an impact with his creative approach to arts education, working with in and out of school young people. His notable film works include Charity, Igolide lami, Jane the Ghost, and The Forgotten Millions, Umonakalo among others. He has also written an international stage play, `McGregor must die` that became one of the staged finalists of South Africa`s Zabalaza Festival at Baxter theater and also audience`s favorites of South Africa`s national youth expressions in 2021.
The Pumula Royal Arts Community Awards, led by Happy Mpofu, aim to promote artistic excellence and provide a platform for young talent to shine. The awards have become a benchmark for creativity and innovation in the region. Premier High School is currently preparing to launch a new skills and talent-based curriculum, designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to at least compete and at most succeed in a rapidly changing world. The curriculum promises to provide a well-rounded education where no child will be left behind.

This hybrid team of wise and experienced teachers and energetic and innovative teachers is led by Mr.K Moyo and his deputies Mr.L.Ndlovu and T. Zvomba.
