The Prestigious Gauteng Women’s Soccer Tournament roars to life for the second time since its founding in 2022. Rovers FC will be the official host for the tournament in their grounds in Alberton Johannesburg. Defending Champions DK Ladies are expected to bring everything they have in a bid to defend their title.

The GWST is a very unpredictable tournament where there are no outright favorites and where everyone has an equal chance to take the ultimate price. Of the teams that participated in 2022 the following have returned to fight for honours  German International Academy, Blue Raycon, Springs Home Sweepers, Rovers FC, Blue Birds ladies, Electrical Ladies, Rietvlei, and the Queen Lozikeyi Academy.  Newcomers in 2023 are Tuks, Future Stars FC, JWV 1 and JWV 2 Nicko Taurus FA, Monene FC.

There is no giant in a tournament like this one, teams are allowed to reinforce their squads, and most will boost their squads to full strength.  Organizers of the tournament believe that tournaments like these give a strong platform for the further development of women’s football through rigorous competition.

Notable partners amongst others for this year’s prestigious event are Hollywood FoundationFootwork and the Gauteng Province Department of Sport Arts and Culture.
