The Battle of Mbembezi popularly known in the Matabele alias Mthwakazi Nation as the Gadade Commemorations and dubbed IMBIZO 1893 is one of the most significant National Events for the Nation of Mthwakazi. This was the decisive battle of resistance from the Matabeleland Nation against colonial invading forces where the bones of the brave forefathers lie the most. Since 2011 Umhlahlo Wesizwe SikaMthwakazi has celebrated the events remembering the fallen warriors who left behind a legacy of resistance even at the face of sure death.  It is common knowledge that the Matabeleland people are the most difficult people oppress for they will hold on to their freedom with their lives.  The National Event has grown over the years and is now regarded one of the most important days for Matabeleland.
